Festivals and Events in The Colony

Come spring, summer, fall or winter, The Colony is celebrating the season with wonderful food, music, arts and entertainment. All festivals and events in The Colony are geared toward the whole family and many are FREE! Mark your calendars now and plan on attending some of the greatest and unique events in North Texas. 


Daddy & Daughter Dance

Date: Saturday, February 4
Time: 5 – 8:30 p.m.

The Parks and Recreation Department will host its 8th annual Daddy & Daughter Dance at the Cascades Events Center. Arrive in your semi-casual attire and dance the night away amid sparkling tiaras, pink balloons and fairy tale characters. Welcoming all daddies and their little angels (ages 3-12). Have you ever wondered what happens behind the counters of the video store? In this fun, adult comedy, Jack and Katey, two employees of a local video store, are challenged with crazy managers, new employees and creepy customers.  When Katey believes she is a shoe in for the assistant manager position, she becomes enraged when a new employee is brought in to fill the position. Must be 17 years of age or older to purchase tickets. This show contains adult language and sexually crude dialogue that some may find offensive. Chalk This Way! Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival

Persian New Year

What I Did Last Summer

Charlie, a rebellious 14-year-old, is spending the summer vacationing with his mother and sister on the shores of Lake Erie before heading off to boarding school. His father is fighting in the Pacific during the final stages of World War II. Although he intended to spend the summer socializing, he is forced to take a job as handyman for a bohemian art teacher. She teaches him to paint and sculpt and exposes him to "radical" ideas about life and love which persuade him to reject going back to school. The result is a showdown between his teacher and his mother. Come check out the show to see what path Charlie picks. Kids Chase by the Lake

The Parks and Recreation Department and The Colony Roadrunners Club present the 11th Annual Kids Chase by the Lake. Children ages 9 and under will compete on a one-half mile loop, while children ages 10-11 run a one mile course in the park. All participants will receive a ribbon, goody bag and T-shirt. Playtri Splash and Dash

Cost: $5 gate entry fee per vehicle for spectators; no entry fee for participants or for those with annual passes

Sign up now for the Playtri Splash and Dash adult swim/run race at Hidden Cove Park and Marina. Participants will compete in one of three courses: 300 meter swim/1 mile run; 750 meter swim/5K run; 1500 meter swim/10K run. The swim takes place in a protected cove of Lewisville Lake and the run is on flat, paved roads with aid stations every mile. Participants have the option of racing in the swim portion only. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Colony Fire Department. Kids Triathlon

Date: Saturday, May 19

The Playtri Kids Triathlons have been designed for kids ages 6 to 14 interested in participating in the fun competition of triathlon. Kids ages 6 – 10 will compete in a 50 meter swim; 2.5 mile bike ride and a half mile run. Kids age 11 – 14 will compete in a 100 meter swim; 5 mile bike ride and a 1 mile run. A pre-race clinic will be held Sunday, May 6 at 2 p.m. at Hidden Cove Park to allow participants to review the course and practice transitioning. In addition, Playtri's Lead Developmental Coach, Morgan Johnson, will meet with participants and their parents to answer questions and help prepare them for the race! All kids who finish the race will receive a finisher’s medal.  For more information and to register for the race, please visit http://playtri.com/hiddencove.

The Colony Firefighter's Association

"Take on the Heat" Triathlon

Spectators are welcome to cheer on their hometown heroes at the annual sprint distance triathlon consisting of a 350 meter open water swim in a protected cove of Lewisville Lake, 12 mile bike ride and 5K run. Hundreds of athletes will participate in this annual race which benefits The Colony Firefighter’s Association. In past years, proceeds from this race paid for medical bills of injured firefighters, assisted firefighters with terminally ill family members, and contributed to various fund raising events for several injured firefighters, both from The Colony Fire Department and around the country. Haunted Shadows Lake Trail

This annual event, presented by The Colony Parks and Recreation Department, will make its way through town with a bang. All-day activities include: pictures with Santa from noon to 2 p.m. at The Colony Public Library, 6800 Main St. ($2 per photo); Parade of Lights at 5:45 p.m. (route begins at Peters Colony Elementary parking lot and proceeds west on Nash to Blair Oaks and then south to The Colony High School); Holiday In The Park at 6 p.m. at Perryman Park, 4930 S. Colony Blvd. Holiday in the Park will feature festive holiday music and performances, a holiday craft station and a baking contest. The Colony Christmas Spectacular
